The Jamui minor harassment Nandan Yadav case has a new development. The main accused, Nandan Yadav, has been arrested.
Police shot him in the leg during an encounter on Tuesday. Yadav was the man in the viral video. He was allegedly molesting a Class 10 girl.
Another accused, Hare Ram Yadav, also hurt his leg during the operation. Total arrests now stand at 5. Moreover, three of them are juveniles. Police have identified 7-8 people so far. Meanwhile, raids are on to catch the rest.
What Happened in the Jamui Minor Harassment Nandan Yadav Case?
The incident happened on September 19. It was evening. The place was Madwa Pahar, on the outskirts of Jamui town.
A girl and a boy were returning from coaching. Both are Class 10 students. They were on a scooter.
Suddenly, a group of men stopped them. The group forced them off the scooter. The men abused them. They also chased them when they tried to run.
The ordeal lasted 15-20 minutes. The accused filmed the whole thing. Subsequently, the video surfaced on social media the next evening.
How Police Found Nandan Yadav
Police found Yadav through the viral video. He was the man wearing a red gamchha (scarf). He had covered his face. However, he was still visible.
According to reports, Yadav is clearly seen lifting the girl in his lap.
Jamui SP Bishwajeet Dayal confirmed Yadav was the main accused. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is handling the case. The SIT is led by a woman officer.
Police Action Against Those Sharing the Video
Jamui Cyber Police have filed FIRs against 120 social media profiles. These profiles shared the video. Some may have revealed the victim’s identity.
Police warned: revealing a minor victim’s identity is a serious crime under the POCSO Act. Therefore, they asked people not to share the video.
Political and Institutional Reactions
Rahul Gandhi called the incident “deeply disturbing.” He demanded prosecution under the POCSO Act.
Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said strict action will be taken. A case has been registered under the POCSO Act.
The National Commission for Women stepped in. They asked the Bihar DGP to arrest all involved. They also demanded a time-bound investigation.

Police are still searching for the remaining suspects. The SIT is investigating. It is led by Jamui SDPO Deepti Monali.
The probe is also looking at how the video was recorded and shared.
